I am the teacher of Room 14 and I have many connections with other countries. I am connected to Australia because I went there last year for a work conference. I am also connected to Belgium because I love the chocolates that they make there and I am connected to Italy because my clever class made a pizza oven last term and we all love eating pizza!
I am connected to England because my sister currently lives in London, England. London is quite cold and damp for most of the year, with summer temperatures rarely reaching the mid 20s, however, it has in the past had heat waves taking temperatures up into the 30s. I am connected with Australia, because I have a good friend who lives there, who I recently went to visit. He lives in Surfers Paradise. Did you know they have a building called Q1 which is the tallest residential building in Australasia? It is 80 stories high and has beautiful 360 degree views across Surfers. The elavator goes up so fast that it makes your ears pop! I also have connections with India, China, Japan, South Africa, and Korea, as many of the children who I teach are of these nationalities.
OK, I am connected with London as I was born there. I am also connected with Greece as my wife's family are Greek. We are also connected with California as some of our family live there. I am also connected with Ireland and Wales as Kinane is an Irish name and my Grandfather was born in Wales, his father owned several shops on a corner that is still known in Swansea today as 'Kinane's Corner' even though the buildings were bombed in WWII. I also have connections to friends who live in the Netherlands and Switzerland. Now that I live here I am connected with New Zealand
I am Helen Hardie and live in Cornwall, England. I am a year 4 teacher and work at Woodford Junior School in Plymouth and we are connected to Meadowbank School because our students have worked together in recent years (we hope to again soon). I am connected to Prague because I met Mr Kinane there we when attended a conference together. Woodford school is connected to Ecole élémentaire de Sizun, France because our students share work and write letters to each other. Our school also have connections to The Gambia where one of our teachers visited the Somita Lower Basic School in May. Somita - means hold on to God in the local Jola language. It is about 70km from the capital of the Gambia, Banjul. The school has about 500 pupils We hope that teachers from the school will visit us later this year. Our connections also extend to China, where our head teacher visited earlier this year. Did you know that the children help clean the school in China!
I am connected to Australia because I was born there and lived there for the first 15 years of my life. I am connected to New Zealand because that is where I live. I am connected to Meadowbank School because that is where I work and I am connected to Room 14 because I taught lots of the children in that class when they were in Year 2!!
Hi, Miss B's mum here! My grandfather came out from England in 1908. We have his diary which gives a detailed recount of what the journey was like. We also travelled around Europe last year which connects me to many countries. My favourite places that we went to were 1) Rome - because I love the history of the place and 2) England - beacue I really enjoy reading books about the Tudor's and it was interesting to see the places they lived in hundreds of year ago. - be nice to your lovely teacher!
My other connection - quite an important one really... is where my name originates from! I have had to deal with never having a pen, cup, drink bottle or teddy bear with my name printed on it because they don't make these items for people named 'Waveney'. My name is a district in Suffolk, England. There are over 100,000 people who live there and is placed between Norwich and Ipswich. When I was born my parents got a travel booklet about this place and I have always wanted to travel there to have my photo taken by the 'Welcome to Waveney' sign! I also have been sent the crest, badges, stamps and a pretty ugly scarf with my name printed on then...I can now say I own named items lik other people with more regular names!
I'm connected to New Zealand because I was born and live here. Recently I have been connected with England as I have family there and lived in London for the past year, but you already know about London. I am connected also to Ireland because I lived in Belfast for 7 months.
Belfast is a city in Northern Ireland and is part of the United Kingdom. It has been quite a violent city to live in, until recently, with a lot of tension between the protestants and the catholics but it is a lot more peaceful now. St Patrick's Day comes from Ireland and it is a celebration of St Patrick driving out all the snakes from Ireland.
I'm also connected with Scotland, where I taught in a small private boarding school for a term. There were only 135 students there. Scotland is a beautiful country and reminded me of home.
I'm also connected with Tokyo, Japan where I lived and worked for 9 months. Tokyo is an extremely busy city with the entire population of NZ within a 5km radius of your house.
Australia is another connection of mine as my brother is living in Sydney and I have several friends living in Queensland.
The United States, Denmark and Belgium are the homes of some of my friends, therefore I have connections there as well.
i am toni and i am connected to germany, because i was born here and i still live here. germany is a state in middle europe. at the moment there are 82.000.000 people living in germany. i am coming from hamburg. that is a city in the north, close to the coast. it is also the second biggest town in germany, there are 1.773.00 people living in hamburg. i love living in hamburg, because its a bick town but it is still very green, infact hamburg is the biggest town with the most parks.hamburg has a very good soccerteam, the play in the first league. its called hamburger hsv. hamburg has some of the biggest citycenters and its great for shopping. we have the big river elbe, which is very usefull for our economy. hamburg makes a lot of money with container ships. some of those containers you can see in the harbour of auckland too. look for the ones with HAMBURG SÜD in them. they are coming the long way from germany to new zealand. i am also connected with denmark because i am always going there for holidays. denmark is rigth above germany, and the language there sound very intersting. i am also connected to new zealnad because i lived there for one year. from germany to new zealand it takes 30 hours on the plane. belive me that is horrible long.
Hello Room 14. I live in Wellington, but I grew up in Auckland. I went to Pt Chevalier School, Pasadena Intermediate, and Auckland Girls' Grammar. I've lived in Australia (Melbourne and Adelaide for 10 years) and USA (New York for 2 years). When I was in New York I worked with children and teachers in grade 2 and 3 classes - I wish we'd done a Flattie activity then! I have traveled to many countries in Europe, and to Mexico, Canada, Singapore and Malaysia. My sister lives in Cambridge England, and although my brother lives in Tauranga, he spends at least half of every year on the high seas. He's the chief engineer for a big shipping company so he works on enormous container ships that travel the world. One of my daughters lives in Melbourne, Australia - and her daughter Wren is in the same year level as you! My partner is in Thailand right now on holiday- that's why I have the Miss B flattie!
Hi there Room 14 - I am Megan, and I'm Miss B's sister. I am connected to Auckland, New Zealand because that's where I was born, and it's where I've always lived.
I am connected to Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Cairns in Australia because these are places I have visited.
I have also been to Fiji. I have friends who have travelled the world all over - perhaps some of them will post a comment!?
