I have a three links with my global connection which is London, England. My grandfather, Richard was born in England and travelled to New Zealand to live when he was a boy. I lived and worked in London when I was travelling through England and Europe with friends in 1988. Also my younger brother James lives in London with his wife Marja and their dog Arki.
My first global connection is the Baja Peninsula, Mexico where I recently had a holiday. My second is Lebanon where my mother comes from. She came to New Zealand when she was 7 years old with her mother and 12 siblings. My third connection is Brazil where I have relations.
I have five links with my global connection which are: Lebanon where my Mother was born. She came to New Zealand with her 11 siblings when she was 7 years old. I have relatives in Brazil. My paternal grandfather came to NZ from Ireland. I have recently had a holiday in San Fancisco in the United States and the Baja Peninsula which is in Mexico.
I have a few global connections to share with you. The first is Singapore where I lived for 10 years. The second is Shetland Isles, Scotland, where my grandfather was born and lived, before emigrating to NZ with his parents and siblings. The third is Sri Lanka where we were on December 26th, 2004, in the aftermath of the Indian Ocean Tsunami. The fifth is Egypt where we had the most interesting holiday we have ever had.
I have a few global connections to share; Saudia Arabia, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Australia...all countries in which I have lived, along with New Zealand of course.
I was born in Auckland, but my father was born in Liverpool in England. One of our sons is living in England and has married a girl from Finland, which is in Scandinavia. My husband and I went to the wedding. We stayed in Helsinki, which is the capital of Finland and it was daylight for 22 hours, with only four hours of night time. This is because Finland is so far North and in the winter there is very little day time.
I have global connections with America and Australia as these countries have collegues who share common interests in my work with childrens vision. Another global connection is with Canada, as each year we host a student studying Optometry to work in our practice and stay with us. Tonga is a place I love to go on holiday and sail so I feel very connected to that place. Hawaii is my favourite place to relax and have fun- this is my most favourite global connection but it is really a part of USA.
My first job was converting old lighthouses to solar power. The old lighthouses had huge revolving glass lenses and were powered by gas bottles or electric generators. Most modern lighthouses now have flashing lights and powered by solar power. I changed the lighthouses in Liberia, The Gambia, Ghana and Nigeria. The local people always helped and were very good at working in the hot sun. I just got sunburnt and dehydrated !! At one lighthouse on South Africa's east coast we found a black mambo snake asleep on the bonnet of the 4x4. The coolest lighthouse I visited was by helicopter over beautiful blue water in Mauritius.
Hi Maddie, my global connections are Kenya,Tanzania,Malawi,Zanbia,Zimbabwe,Botswana and Namibia because I spent alot of time travelling through these countries on a truck looking at all the wonderful Animals and wildlife reserves. Africa is a beautiful place to visit and was my favourite Holiday. I hope I can take my children to visit there one day.

Also Malawi in Africa,as our family have an 11 year old sponser child that we help support through world vision.another global connection is Rarotonga as we have had nice warm holidays there and my other global connection is canada where we spent last summer skiing and would like to go back to, and my boys ski coaches are form there. Oh and another is Australia. as my uncle and aunt lived there all their married life and my aunt is australian.
Suellen says she has a son married and living in England, and a daughter in Melbourne Australia, she has recently had a holiday in Bali, Indonesia, and sponsors a nurse working at a hospital in Kalene, Zambia. She has a cousin who lives in France, very near the border to Switzerland. The resort she stayed in Samoa was recently devestated by the tsunami and the owner was drowned.
Hi Maddie, James here. My first global connection is that I live in London. My second is that I work with Ewelina from Poland, Lakshimi from Trinadad and Tabago, Enjee from Malaysia, lots of British and me from New Zealand(I'm the coolest). Lastly and most importantly my wife, Marja, is from Finland.
Hi Maddie, my first global connection is Finland, where I was born and raised. I also have global connections in Germany, Austria and Sweden where I've lived and studied. My most far-away global connection is my good friend, Jan, who lives in Kazakhstan. I now live in London with James and our dog Aslak. Our neighbours come from Canada and Czech Republic. See you at Christmas!
My first Global Connections are in Wales and England. My mother was born in England (she came to live in New Zealand after a small arguement with her mother and thought it would annoy her!) and my father in Wales (he came to New Zealand to see if it was a nice place for his family to move to). We have been to visit often. I also have connections in France and Greece where I lived for many years. My sister lives there with her husband Richard and two children- Claudia and Elliott. My parents then moved to Mexico City where I visited them twice a year for 4 years. A favourite Global Connection is Sydney, Australia as I'm a bit of a shopper and its my favourite place to do just that. Somehow, now I have children I seem to spend most of that time shopping for them! I have many school friends all over the USA from my school days in Greece and those Global Connections are very precious to me.
